An In-vitro study of Lipid peroxidation, Vitamin E and Vitamin C levels in saliva of oral precancerous patients in Distt Hapur of U.P.

Abstract:

Objective: The objective of our study was to find out whether vitamin E and vitamins C levels in saliva can be used as a marker for cancer.

Material and Methods: This study was carried out in the dental OPD of Saraswathi Institute of Medical Sciences, Hapur, U.P.  The saliva was collected from all the subjects. Results were compared with age, sex and matched with controls. Total 20 people were selected in which 10 normal subjects and 10 oral pre cancerous patien… Show more

“…Numerous researchers have discussed endogenous intoxication and lipid peroxidation in the blood and saliva, but the process is only described with a pileup of the end product, MDA [19,23,25,26,35]. Thus, the research of the MDA level in the context of pre-cancerous changes and squamous cell cancer of the mouth shows that the MDA concentration increases by 80% when going from the control group to pre-cancerous changes, and by 183% when going to moderately differentiated squamous cell cancer [35].…”

Maximum differences were found between healthy people and patients with highly differentiated cancer of the oral cavity (213% compared to the control group).…”

“…Показано, что содержание МДА в слюне возрастает на фоне предраковых изменений на 80%, тогда как на фоне умеренно дифференцированного плоскоклеточного рака полости рта -на 183% [21]. Максимальные различия отмечены между здоровыми людьми и пациентами с высокодифференцированным раком полости рта (на 213% относительно контрольной группы) [22,23]. В доступной литературе не встретилось описания использования слюны в качестве материала для изучения процессов перекисного окисления липидов при раке легкого.…”
