An in vitro comparison of a novel Self-Assembling Peptide Matrix Gel and selected desensitizing toothpastes in reducing fluid flow by dentine tubular occlusion

Abstract: Background: The objective of the present in vitro study was to evaluate the ability of a novel self-assembling peptide matrix gel with calcium phosphate in effectively occluding dentine tubules compared to selected desensitizing toothpastes. Methods: Mid-coronal dentine discs with a thickness of 1 mm were sectioned from caries-free human molars. The discs were etched with 6% citric acid for 2 minutes, halved and subjected to a 2-minute brushing with a novel gel (SAPM) and three selected desensitizing toothpast… Show more

“…SAP P 11 -4 can be used in the treatment of initial enamel caries [22, 24, 49, 31-33, 38, 45-48], white spot lesions after orthodontic treatment [50,51], dental erosions [52], and dentin hypersensitivity [53,54]. SAP P 11 -4 can also be used for dentin repair [55] and in the treatment of periodontal diseases [56,57].…”
