An Improved FCS-MPC Based on Virtual Vector Expansion and Sector Optimization for 2L-VSCs

Abstract: Conventional finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) outputs one voltage vector per period by vector traversal algorithm, which leads to low control accuracy, unnecessary high computational burden and unfixed switching frequency. In this paper, an improved FCS-MPC based on virtual vector expansion and sector optimization is proposed to improve system performance and reduce computational burden for 2L-VSCs. Three aspects are improved as follows. First, a sector optimization method based on effecti… Show more

“…Finite control set model predictive control strategy (FCS-MPC) is an excellent control strategy with the merits of strong anti-coupling performance and fast response speed [21], which is applied in various electric machine control [22], [23], [24], [25], [26] and other power electronics field [27], [28], [29], [30]. In [31], a predictive torque control is presented to promote the estimation accuracy of flux linkage and rotor speed in the feedback-correction-based dual reference frame.…”

“…The Finite Control Set Model Predictive Control (FCS-MPC) algorithm, on the other hand, offers advantages such as robustness, simplicity of control, no need for PWM modulation, and the ability to perform multi-objective control. Due to these advantages, it has been applied in the field of nonlinear control (Aguirre et al, 2020;Guo et al, 2022;Jin et al, 2022;Yan et al, 2022) applied model predictive control to a threelevel NPC grid-connected inverter and proposed a virtual vectorbased control strategy for the NPC inverter without considering the NPV weighting factor. This strategy simplifies the vector selection process and achieves excellent control performance (Jin et al, 2022).…”
