An Improved Distribution Policy with a Maintenance Aspect for an Urban Logistic Problem

Abstract: Abstract:In this paper, we present an improved distribution plan supporting an urban distribution center (UDC) to solve the last mile problem of urban freight. This is motivated by the need of UDCs to satisfy daily demand in time under a high service level in allocated urban areas. Moreover, these demands could not be satisfied in individual cases because the delivery rate can be less than daily demand and/or affected by random failure or maintenance actions of vehicles. The scope of our work is to focus on a … Show more

“…When implementing cooperative logistics concepts, e.g., white-label solutions, it is also important to use synergies to increase the system's efficiency. Ndhaief et al [54] implemented a simulation of logistics flows in cities using collaborative urban distribution centers. Their mathematical model coordinates maintenance and distribution strategies and minimizes costs by establishing collaborations [54].…”

“…Ndhaief et al 2017 [5] considered an urban distribution center (UDC) which must satisfy daily demand of its customers in a given urban area over a finite time span. A collaborative approach with a subcontractor is proposed to deal with the situations where the UDC cannot satisfy the total demand during a given period due to lack of capacity that can be caused by vehicles repair or PM.…”

“…Ndhaief, Bistorin and Rezg [25] improved a distribution plan supporting an urban distribution center (UDC) to solve the last mile problem of urban freight. They defined a mathematical model for searching the best distribution and maintenance plans using a subcontracting strategy; they considered delay for the next periods with an expensive penalty.…”
