An improved distance relay based on electronic transformer by using instantaneous value after equal transfer processes

Abstract: This paper analyses the formation mechanism of the transmission distortion of electronic voltage transformer, and points out that the integrator will magnify the transient transfer error and superimpose the dynamic additional component on the output signal, which may cause the transfer distortion of voltage signal in serious cases. To restrict the electronic transformer transient variable error effect on distance relay, a distance relay method using instantaneous value after equal transfer processes is propose… Show more

“…Without iron-core structures, ECTs effectively solve the hysteresis saturation problem of traditional CTs. In addition, an ECT has lightweight sensing structure and a small sensing output signal; therefore, it is suitable for applications in the integration of intelligent transmission and distribution (T&D) systems and intelligent substations [10][11][12]. For on-site current measurement applications of overhead lines, one of the main studies is to solve the limitations of sensor placement in the on-site environment.…”

“…Reference [14] proposed to utilize voltage phase information to eliminate the negative effect of the fault resistance. References [15,16] calculate the fault distance by reconstructing the fault point voltage. However, this method cannot fundamentally solve the problem of non-metallic grounding, and there are errors in principle.…”
