Water bodies in hilly areas are considered the cleanest in India. They are also sites for household and recreation activities. On the contrary, they are disposal sites for household and toxic industrial wastes. This study evaluates the physio-chemical parameters and the toxic heavy metal content in two water bodies of Itanagar, the capital city of the Himalayan state of Arunachal Pradesh. Physiochemical parameters were evaluated using standard procedures and toxic heavy metal contents were analyzed using Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy. The study revealed high dissolved oxygen contents in both water bodies. Other parameters such as alkalinity, carbon dioxide, phosphate, chloride, and nitrate contents were found to be within the permissible limits. However, lead and arsenic were found in trace amounts but below the permissible limits in both water bodies. Cadmium was exactly within the permissible limit whereas, antimony was found to exceed the permissible limit (0.010ppm). Also, chromium (0.070±0.002 ppm) in Ganga Lake and nickel (0.086±0.011 ppm) in Poma River were found to be above the permissible limits. The presence of toxic metals in these natural hilly areas is alarming and can be attributed to increasing anthropogenic activities. Adequate measures and precautions to prevent such contamination activities should be undertaken.

The influence of various mechanical influences (transfusion, stirring, vibration, shaking, etc.) and magnetic installations (used in the application of spin chemistry methods) on colloidal solutions of protein and water, which are often used in pharmaceutical production, was studied. It has been shown that when mechanical influences are applied, physical and chemical properties of water and aqueous colloids of the IgG protein are changed. Magnetic fields do not have a significant effect on water; however, variation in a number of physical and chemical characteristics is observed in protein colloids. Moreover, the effect after exposure to magnetic fields with a frequency of 8 Hz is higher compared to the effect after exposure to magnetic fields with a frequency of 50 Hz. This effect persists even at extremely low concentrations of IgG protein molecules. The measurement system proposed in this work makes it possible to monitor the state of protein molecules in a non-invasive mode. In the future, optical and potentiometric methods built into flow systems can be used at all stages of the production of protein pharmaceuticals.

Los humedales son uno de los ecosistemas más importantes del planeta. En los distintos hábitats que albergan convive un gran número de especies, siendo un reservorio de biodiversidad. Además, al ser sumideros de carbono (CO 2, ) son un aliado natural en la lucha contra el cambio climático. Los humedales resultan imprescindibles para el cumplimiento de los objetivos de sostenibilidad de la Agenda 2030. Desgraciadamente, la desaparición de estos espacios naturales es alarmante, especialmente acelerada durante el siglo XX y lo que llevamos de siglo XXI. Uno de los motivos más importantes que causa su pérdida y degradación es la falta de recursos hídricos.En general, en situaciones de estrés hídrico, es necesario aportar agua procedente de fuentes externas. La elección de las fuentes de recursos hídricos supone un complejo problema de decisión. La calidad del agua debe ser la adecuada para garantizar la sostenibilidad del humedal. En esta tesis se elabora una metodología para resolver ese problema. Se ha aplicado al caso de las Tablas de Daimiel, pero puede ser utilizada en cualquier otro humedal.
