The Metaverse platform offers 3D immersive experiences through virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and blockchain technologies. Blockchain-based Metaverse has garnered recent interest due to its decentralization, anonymity, and other security features. Integrating blockchain into Metaverse promotes the formation of a shared ecosystem and provides digital asset tracking, privacy protection, and security in both virtual and physical environments. This paper explores the role of blockchain in creating and managing the Metaverse platform. It is intended to provide a helpful reference for researchers and practitioners in the field of the blockchain-based Metaverse. The main topics covered include the concept and characteristics of the Metaverse; its different use cases, architectures, and technologies; Metaverse as a service provider; Metaverse management; Metaverse users and data; and blockchain-based Metaverse in terms of roles, technologies, applications, and challenges. In addition, recent advances in the blockchain-based Metaverse and challenges such as scalability, interoperability, and edge resource sharing will be discussed. The paper will conclude by highlighting open research issues and future directions, including improving immersion, scalability, security, and integration with existing systems.INDEX TERMS Blockchain, metaverse, Internet of Things (IoT), big data, cybersecurity.

Intelligent Transport System (ITS) offers inter-vehicle communication, safe driving, road condition updates, and intelligent traffic management. This research intends to propose a novel decentralized “BlockAuth” architecture for vehicles, authentication, and authorization, traveling across the border. It is required because the existing architects rely on a single Trusted Authority (TA) for issuing certifications, which can jeopardize privacy and system integrity. Similarly, the centralized TA, if failed, can cause the whole system to collapse. Furthermore, a unique “Proof of Authenticity and Integrity” process is proposed, redirecting drivers/vehicles to their home country for authentication, ensuring the security of their credentials. Implemented with Hyperledger Fabric, BlockAuth ensures secure vehicle authentication and authorization with minimal computational overhead, under 2%. Furthermore, it opens up global access, enforces the principles of separation of duty and least privilege, and reinforces resilience via decentralization and automation.

The trusted sharing of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) can realize the efficient use of medical data resources. Generally speaking, EHRs are widely used in blockchain-based medical data platforms. EHRs are valuable private assets of patients, and the ownership belongs to patients. While recent research has shown that patients can freely and effectively delete the EHRs stored in hospitals, it does not address the challenge of record sharing when patients revisit doctors. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a deletion and recovery scheme of EHRs based on Medical Certificate Blockchain. This paper uses cross-chain technology to connect the Medical Certificate Blockchain and the Hospital Blockchain to realize the recovery of deleted EHRs. At the same time, this paper uses the Medical Certificate Blockchain and the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) to store Personal Health Records, which are generated by patients visiting different medical institutions. In addition, this paper also combines digital watermarking technology to ensure the authenticity of the restored electronic medical records. Under the combined effect of blockchain technology and digital watermarking, our proposal will not be affected by any other rights throughout the process. System analysis and security analysis illustrate the completeness and feasibility of the scheme.
