An extensive review of nonisolated DC-DC boost-based converters

Abstract: High voltage step-up is necessary in several applications, especially considering that dc-ac converters must be supplied by high dc voltages. The conventional boost converter is the most popular topology for this purpose, although the conversion efficiency is limited at high duty cycle values. In order to overcome such limitation and improve the conversion ratio, many converter topologies have been proposed so far. Within this context, this work intends to review some of the most important works regarding boos… Show more

“…For the phase crossover frequency, the value is 9.4e -6 Hz, whereby the gain margin is about 0.65. The plot shows that the frequency response for (5,4,1) gave a stable open-loop system. This is because the crossover frequency met the requirement of -180 degrees when the magnitude plot intersected 0dB line…”

“…The discrete time polynomial for ARX model structure for system identification in MATLAB/Simulink software can be expressed as (4). The best mathematical models for ARX model structure (5,4,1) are expressed as (5) and (6). 1,1,1) 1.36% (2,1,1) 41.78% (3,2,1) 76.70% (4,2,1) 94.03% (5,4,1) 96.81% Table 4 shows the comparison for best fits for five random model orders.…”

“…Among them, the following techniques stand out: multi-stage (multilevel, interleaved, cascaded); voltage multiplier cells (VMCs); magnetic coupling (with or without coupled inductors) and switched capacitors (SCs). Each technique has its own features and should be selected based on the application and its requirements [5][6][7][8][9][10][11].…”

“…In an IBC, higher-voltage conversion ratio is obtained by using a transformer (isolated converters). However, non-isolated converters with appropriate gain extension techniques are preferred mainly due to merits such as higher efficiency, reduced volume and size [10][11][12][13][14]. In non-isolated DC-DC converters, some commonly used gain extension methods are coupled inductors (CIs) with and without IBC, switched capacitor (SC) cells, voltage doublers, voltage multiplier cells (VMCs) and charge pump technique.…”
