An Extended Step-Wise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis with Symmetric Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Sets for Determining the Subjective Weights of Criteria in Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Problems

Abstract: Determination of subjective weights, which are based on the opinions and preferences of decision-makers, is one of the most important matters in the process of multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM). Step-wise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis (SWARA) is an efficient method for obtaining the subjective weights of criteria in the MCDM problems. On the other hand, decision-makers may express their opinions with a degree of uncertainty. Using the symmetric interval type-2 fuzzy sets enables us to not only capture t… Show more

“…This proposition is not an equivalence, as can be observed by taking [A, 7,9) , (10, 13,16)] T . It is the case that [(1, 2, 3) , (7, 9,11)] T ≤ [(5, 7,9) , (10, 13,16)…”

“…When working with interval-valued fuzzy numbers, the degree of membership is given by an interval. We can find applications of interval type-2 fuzzy numbers in many scientific disciplines, such as decision-making [11][12][13][14][15], engineering applications [16][17][18], graph theory [19] and control theory [20,21] among others.…”

“…To achieve these experts use criteria weighting methods. Scientists developed dozens of different subjective approaches for assessing weights (Nakhaei et al, 2016): AHP (Saaty, 1980), ANP (Saaty, 1996), expert method (Zavadskas & Vilutienė, 2006), SWARA (Keršulienė et al, 2010;Keshavarz-Ghorabaee et al, 2018), etc. Different types of measurement scales (nominal, ratio, ordinal, interval, or fuzzy) could be used to measure the importance of criteria.…”

“…The paper presents a new method for solving the fully fuzzy DEA (data envelopment analysis) model where all parameters are Z-numbers [55]. The topic of data fuzziness is continued in the paper aimed at the weighting of criteria in multi-criteria decision models [56]. An extended SWARA (step-wise weight assessment ratio analysis) method with symmetric interval type-2 fuzzy sets for determining the weights of criteria is developed.…”
