The cryptocurrency market is very young, volatile, and highly risky. By the end of 2020, a new bull run started, and the prices of several cryptocurrencies reached record-breaking highs. The factors affecting this rise of cryptocurrencies include the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic crisis and the global increase in the inflation rate, as well as the gradual acceptance and adoption of cryptocurrencies by people worldwide. This exploratory research is focused on this last factor, i.e., using cryptocurrency and with it, the associated support of its ecosystem (e.g., mining, staking). A survey was carried out investigating the motivational factors and barriers to investment in cryptocurrency for Czech representatives of Generations Y and Z (18–42 years; n = 468). The geographic scope was nationwide, and quota sampling was used. Notably, this survey was carried out prior to the global COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, and it is thus not affected by the pandemic and its related economic impacts. The article investigates the dependency between the individual motivational factors and barriers from the perspective of the tendency to take risks (using the risk propensity scale), according to gender and representation of Generations Y and Z. The lack of information on this form of investment is considered as the main barrier to investment in cryptocurrency, with respect to sex and generations. Compared to that, a negative experience with investment in cryptocurrency constitutes the most minor barrier. Respondents that have a tendency to take risks are mostly put off by their lack of experience with investment in general. The main motivational factor for investment in cryptocurrency, with respect to sex and generations, is considered to be the speed of increase in cryptocurrency value. On the other hand, the least encouraging factor is the opportunity to use the high volatility of cryptocurrency for speculative trading. Interestingly, this factor mostly encourages respondents that do not have a tendency to take risks. The findings are discussed, along with the presentation of their implications for practice and the directions of further explanatory research.

Purpose Blockchain technology is spreading its roots and growing rapidly. With the advancement of blockchain technology, government organizations are focusing toward adopting blockchain technology. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that affect the adoption of blockchain technology and provide a conceptual framework to adopt blockchain technology in government organizations. Design/methodology/approach To answer the research questions, this study has used systematic literature review (SLR). For achieving the quality and transparent process, this study has applied the PRISMA framework in the SLR. Findings With the help of SLR, this study has identified 72 factors that influence the adoption of blockchain technology. After critically examining the factors, this study has developed the conceptual framework for the adoption of blockchain technology in government organizations with four factors of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology model and four additional factors, i.e. facilitating conditions, social influence, effort expectancy, performance expectancy, trust, transparency, cost and security. Research limitations/implications To perform SLR, this study has used two databases: Web of Science and Google Scholar; future studies can consider other databases. This study has provided the framework but not validated it; future studies can use structural equation modeling and artificial neural network to validate the framework. Practical implications This study helps to provide insights about blockchain technology and help government and policymakers to take decisions for the adoption of blockchain technology and in determining the future action plan. Originality/value Few studies are available in the literature that have used SLR to identify blockchain technology adoption in government organizations.

Em um cenário cada vez mais regido por tecnologias da informação e comunicação (TIC), é comum a presença de diversas formas de pagamentos disponíveis no mercado. Dentre as opções, existe um novo meio de pagamento, as Criptomoedas. Ainda existe desconfiança e desconhecimento no setor turístico para que haja efetiva adoção das moedas digitais. Dessa forma, o presente estudo tem como objetivo avaliar a intenção de usar Criptomoedas pelos gestores de empreendimentos turísticos, por meio da teoria Technology Acceptance Model – TAM (Davis, 1989), visando dar suporte na investigação dos fatores que influenciam a intenção de uso de criptomoedas. O estudo apresenta um caráter exploratório-descritivo, com abordagem quantitativa. A coleta de dados foi realizada através de survey com 61 participantes, tendo seus dados processados pelo software IBM SPSS versão 22 para Windows. Para análise dos dados foram utilizadas estatísticas descritivas, análise fatorial exploratória e modelagem de equações estruturais. Mediante os resultados alcançados, o estudo traz a reflexão sobre a necessidade da modernização e adequação dos processos dentro das organizações turísticas, em que os empresários precisam estar atualizados sobre os benefícios que novas modalidades tecnológicas de pagamento podem trazer para suas empresas.
