An execution time planner for the ARTIS agent architecture

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to present an approach for integrating new complex deliberative behaviours in a real-time agent architecture, specifically in the ARTIS agent architecture, which is specially designed for hard real-time environments. The new deliberative agent proposed remakes its plans at runtime conserving the system integrity and its real-time feature. The proposed system has been successfully tested in a robotic test environment. This environment consisted of the automated management of the int… Show more

“…Moreover, real-time agents have been shown to be an interesting research area where different approaches have tried to apply the MAS paradigm in real-time environments. Approaches in this area can be found in [44] and [45]. Nevertheless, the employment of a temporal bounded CBR in the agent deliberation process is still an open topic.…”

“…A CBP-BDI agent should incorporate a planning mechanism that generates plans as solutions to the given problem. A CBP-BDI agent can incorporate different planning mechanisms [36], [37]. Corchado et al [36] present a replanning mechanism for CBP-BDI agents in which the main characteristic is the ability to replan in execution time.…”

“…idCBR agents are a particular type of CBR-BDI agent [3,16] whose internal structure and capacities are based on mental aptitude [33]. These agents are characterized by the integration of a CBR (Case-Based Reasoning) mechanism [3] in a deliberative BDI Agent. This mechanism provides the agents with a greater level of adaptation and learning capability given that CBR systems use past experiences to solve new problems [16].…”
