Among the important determinants of behavioral change were attitudes toward noise and hearing loss, subjective norms (i.e., the perception that others think one should or should not engage in a given behavior), and perceived behavioral control (Quick et al, 2008); these are consistent with factors theorized to be important on the basis of the theory of reasoned action (Fishbein & Ajzen, 1975) and the theory of planned behavior (Ajzen, 1991).
