Similar to wireless software updates for the smartphones, over-the-air (OTA) methods are used to update the software and firmware for the various electronic control units (ECUs) in the car. It is an efficient and convenient approach to update the software in the car and it will help customers save their money and time by reducing time to visit the service center to repair small bugs in the software. However, OTA updates open a new attack vector for hackers, who can use the OTA mechanism to steal OEM firmware, to reprogram ECUs, or to control the vehicle remotely. In this thesis, we perform a comprehensive security analysis for the current OTA mechanism to understand its associated threats. We also propose an approach to secure the original OTA software update method by adding a biometric iris scan and cryptographic hash function before updating the software and firmware over the air. Abstract. Iridology has existed for more than 100 years and has now aroused new interest in the age of alternative medicine. The conception that disorders in different organs of the body are projected in the iris by the appearance of a variety of signs and spots has repeatedly been rejected by medical science, apparently with little success. Supporters of iridology pretend that their critics have a professional unwillingness to accept unorthodox ideas and that future research will demonstrate the true value of iridology. An evaluation of the concepts of iridology and of controlled scientific reports has, however, established the following points: The basis of iridology and the different iris signs are explained by physiological variations of the normal human iris; controlled clinical trials and experiments conclusively show that iridology has no ability to detect disorders in other parts of the body; there are sufficient proofs that iridology is purely conjectural. Iridology is of no medical value and might even be a potential danger to people seeking medical care. It should be exposed as a medical fraud.

 Determination of the width of sodium ring around iris  Relationship between cholesterol values and sodium ring width  Proposal of an empirical method with linear/multilinear regression analysis The sodium ring, which is one of the symptoms of high cholesterol, is a colored ring close to the whiteness formed around the iris. The examination of this ring and its follow up can be considered as an alternative to control the level of cholesterol. Figure A. Iris analysis to determine sodium ring width Purpose: The purpose of this study is to calculate of the sodium ring width and then to determine the relationship between the sodium ring width and the level of cholesterol. Theory and Methods: Sodium ring widths were determined using eye images obtained from 15 different patients. The relationship between these values and the cholesterol values of the patients was investigated. Results: Novel methods for determining sodium ring width have been proposed using, total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides. Conclusion: With the use of the proposed method, the sodium ring width on iris can be determined with 86% accuracy by using cholesterol values.
