“…It actually acts like a plain specimen. The damage in the matrix was expanded in large area, the fatigue limit σw became lowest in the case of blunt notched specimens [1,2]. The share deformation and succeeding broken behavior of carbon fiber is related to the fiber constraint [3][4][5][6].…”

“…We can approximate that inter laminar bonding between the woven carbon fiber cloth and aluminum foil or plate was not effective. The fracture pattern and crack growth behavior has been discussed in the previous article [2]. For B and C type specimen, crack initiated from notch tip and cut the fibers with shear mode within the notch tip area and then crack has been propagated in shear mode.…”

“…In the previous study, a basic study was conducted on the strength characteristics of composite materials having woven carbon fibers with notched specimen or slit specimens [1]. It was discussed that the fatigue limit of the smooth specimen was predicted from the result of the notched specimen and the effect of the long fiber direction on the fatigue behavior was analyzed [1][2][3][4]. The hybrid composites were prepared in the present study by assembling one after another from commercially available woven carbon fiber sheet along with the aluminum foil, and thin aluminum plate aligned with uniaxial direction and impregnating the cloth with the epoxy resin.…”
