“…This calls for urgent action to start suitable preventive programs for school children in Jordan. Many recent studies reported the effectiveness of different school‐based preventive programs (6–8); however, the success of such programs under the conditions prevailing in different communities needs further investigation. “…Similarly, Oscarson et al 8 compared the cost-effectiveness of three preventive programmes versus brushing with fluoride toothpaste. Studies by Morgan et al 9,10 and Crowley et al 11 all report on an Australian schoolbased prevention programme consisting of fluoride mouthrinse and fissure sealant placement compared with oral hygiene instruction. Recently, Quinonez et al 12,13 estimated the cost-effectiveness of three different preventive sealant strategies over a 10-year period.…”

“…The ICER was $11.75 per DMFT averted over six years. Morgan et al assessed the cost‐effectiveness of a combination of sealants, fluoride mouth rinses and oral hygiene instructions (OHI) compared with only OHI in two nonfluoridated areas in Victoria, Australia. The ICER was $12.67 per DMFS averted over three years with a net savings by the third year, suggesting that a longer duration of study would have resulted in net savings to the community.…”
