“…Our approach is based on a general epistemological model of scientific discovery process that provides a well-founded framework for integrating experimental data with preexisting knowledge and with automated inference tools. The model, called Select and Test Model (ST-Model) [21,22], was initially developed in the field of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine to support the design and implementation of expert systems.
