Business process modeling (BPM) is procedural-oriented advanced activity for representing process models with domain knowledge. It consists of all the functional requirements given by the users to build the software. However, nonfunctional requirements such as cost, time, performance, and security are used to evaluate the performance of a system. Among these requirements, security is the vital attribute to be taken care at the early stage of any software development. For example, even governing bodies are heavily dependents on the data system due to security exposures. So automation on model transformation from non-secured metamodel to secured metamodels improves the overall execution of the software evolution process. In this paper, the authors propose an Auto Secure Business Process (AutoSBP) system to automate security to the existing software models. The activity model of existing system is dismantled into attributes and actions to extract its business need.Based on the interpretation from business data, security implications are applied to the existing software models. To fine tune the security implications, ID3 decision learning algorithm is applied. The effect of the system-generated model assures the quality by its complexity metrics.

An Embedded Software Development Framework for Internet of Things Devices

Internet of things (IoT) devices are mostly ubiquitous in this day and age, and it is hard to imagine a life without them, especially in the productive sectors (industry, agriculture, and automotive) and in our daily life activities (consumer electronics, home automation, and intelligent buildings). The high demand for these devices has created significant competition to provide them at the best price, at the right time, and with the best features. The trend in which these devices have increased their product features has resulted in their embedded software being more complex, leading to extended development and testing times. Consequently, as the types of advanced IoT products keep diversifying, the field maintenance of all the different models deployed grows more complicated. This paper proposes an embedded software development framework for IoT devices independent of the microcontroller architecture, the compiler, and the development environment. This framework allows having a common software baseline between different projects, which shortens the learning curve, development time, and module validation while allowing code reuse for embedded software professionals. A proof-of-concept evaluation is also presented to demonstrate the efficiency and reliability of the obtained embedded software code for a simple but representative IoT application.

Interaction languages such as UML sequence diagrams are often associated with a formal semantics by means of translations into formalisms such as automatas or Petri nets. In contrast, we propose an approach without any references to any other behavioral formalisms. We define an operational approach to compute the semantics of interactions. The principle is to identify which elementary communication actions can be immediately executed, and then to compute, for each of those actions, a new interaction representing the possible continuations to its execution. We also define an algorithm for checking the validity of execution traces, i.e. checking whether or not the trace belongs to the semantics of the considered interaction. Algorithms for semantics computation and trace validity are analyzed by means of some experiments.
