This research studies the motivation of customers to choose the QR code as a payment tool by developing an integrated model based on UTAUT 424 valid responses were collected from diversified socio-economic backgrounds to validate the proposed framework. Compared with the original UTAUT model, the new one integrates ‘perceived security’, ‘perceived benefits’ and excludes ‘social influence’ to provide more comprehensive and consistent guidance. PLS-SEM technique was performed as in the data analysis process using SmartPLS. Our study concluded that seven of nine hypotheses are supported by the use of PLS-SEM technique. Customers' intention (R2=0.87) to use QR code as the payment tool is jointly contributed by their attitude, perceived usefulness, and subjective norms toward using QR code as the payment method. The formation of customers' attitudes (R2=0.79) towards using QR code is affected by their perceived usefulness, perceived benefits, and subjective norms. Discussion and strategies for the third parties of QR payment providers and future research directions are also presented.

Antecedents to the Adoption of Mobile Payment in China and Italy: an Integration of UTAUT2 and Innovation Resistance Theory

This research aims to investigate the adoption gap in mobile payment systems between Italy and China, focusing on users’ intention to adopt mobile payment. The theoretical framing considers both drivers and barriers when combines the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology 2 (UTAUT2) with innovation resistance theory (IRT). To empirically verify the proposed model, this study gathers primary data through a web-based, self-administered survey. To analyze the data, we use structural equation modeling, and to test for significant differences between the two groups we run multi-group analysis. The respondents in Italy and China present different behaviors. Social influence plays a significant role in cultures with high uncertainty avoidance, such as Italy. The tradition barrier is the only significant barrier to the adoption of mobile payment.

The purpose of the study is to examine the current study trend of 'QR code' and suggest a direction for the future study of big data analysis: (1) Background: study trend of 'QR code' and analysis of the text by subject field and year; (2) Methodology: data scraping and collection, EXCEL summary, and preprocess and big data analysis by R x 64 4.0.2 program package; (3) the findings: first, the trend showed a continuous increase in 'QR code' studies in general and the findings were applied in various fields. Second, the analysis of frequent keywords showed somewhat different results by subject field and year, but the overall results were similar. Third, the visualization of the frequent keywords also showed similar results as that of frequent keyword analysis; and (4) the conclusions: in general, 'QR code' studies are used in various fields, and the trend is likely to increase in the future as well. And the findings of this study are a reflection that 'QR code' is an aspect of our social and cultural phenomena, so that it is necessary to think that 'QR code' is a tool and an application of information. An expansion of the scope of the analysis is expected to show us more meaningful indications on 'QR code' study trends and development potential.
