An elevated gain DC-DC converter with active switched inductor for PV application

Abstract: Innovative power electronic converters have emerged because of renewable energy expansion in the past two decades. Direct current DC grids can operate independently or connected to power grids. A DC grid has distributed generation (DG) units, such as solar panels and, fuel cells. It is necessary to have a DC-DC converter in DC grids to raise output voltage. Boost converters have limited voltage gain, and their switching stress is often equal to their output voltage. This work proposes a converter which gives h… Show more

“…The DC/DC power converter is widely researched and extensively employed in the field of power electronics. The utilization spectrum of DC/DC power converters encompasses various applications such as high-efficiency power supplies [1], [2], high-efficiency battery chargers [3], high voltage gain converters [4], [5], high-efficiency DC motor drives [6], [7], maximum power point tracking (MPPT) applications [8]- [10], and renewable energy conversion systems [11]- [14]. DC-DC converters are frequently employed in the context of inverter systems within photovoltaic systems [15]- [17], alongside wind turbines and other sources of renewable energy.…”

“…Furthermore, in [25]- [27] A new approach has been proposed in the DC-DC converter by combining two or more conventional transformers, in [25] has successfully combined flyback and SEPIC topologies, but the profit is still small and requires an increase in the duty cycle, as the result increase loss. The work of [26] shows that the boost converter has been improved and the profit is fairly good, but it requires two keys, which makes controlling it complex and increases costs and losses. Also, in [27] has successfully combined quadratic boost and SEPIC topologies but to increase voltage gain should be increased duty cycle and used to switch.…”

“…There are a number of literature references that describe high gain DC DC converters, both non isolated and isolated. A converter with voltage lift technique is presented in [1], [3]. It is suggested to attain high voltage gain by a hybrid approach where both switches are switched on simultaneously.…”
