An Electron Tube Wattmeter and Voltmeter and a Phase Shifting Bridge

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to describe a wattmeter, for measuring power of a few microwatts or more, a phase shifting bridge for controlling the angular relation of two potentials without changing their amplitudes, and a voltmeter for measuring potentials of a few millivolts without amplifying.

“…The direct-current component of the product term is proportional to the power, since EG1 and EG4 are proportional to alternating voltage and current. is, for some value of EG1, a straight line, then the plate current of the tube can be represented by (1) and the tube may be used as a wattmeter tube.…”
