An Efficient Maximum-power-point-tracking Controller For Grid-connected Photovoltaic Energy Conversion System

Abstract: This paper investigates the effectiveness of the “Perturbation and Observation” (P&O) method and “Incremental Conductance” (IncCond) method through simulations carried out by using SimPowerSystems of MATLAB/Simulink®. Both the steady-state and transient characteristics of each control algorithm are fully analyzed and compared by using a proposed performance index. Finally, a new MPPT control algorithm based on an enhanced incremental conductance method is proposed in order to improve the efficiency of the … Show more

“…In this respect, it is useful to appeal to the wide experience that exists in the development of intelligent converters for photovoltaic solar systems. In this sense, different methods of maximum power point tracking of photovoltaic solar systems have been studied under changes in the parameters of the modules and climatic conditions, and various efficient converter topologies have been proposed, which are of direct application for the proposal presented in this work [16].…”

“…This objective is fulfilled with an MPP tracker that employs a ''Perturbation and Observation'' iterative method for adjusting the DC-DC converter duty cycle according to the result of the comparison of successive TEG output power measurements. This control algorithm has widely proved to be very efficient in tracking the MPP of photovoltaic systems [7]. The generated power signal P r is then converted to a direct current reference (i dr1 ) for the middle control.…”

“…Entretanto, nem sempre a energia elétrica gerada é consumida localmente. O sistema pode ser conectado a rede elétrica comercial para que o excedente ou toda energia possa ser doada ou vendida à concessionária [4][5][6][7].…”
