An Efficient Analytical Method for Analysis of Spirotetramat and its Metabolite Spirotetramat-Enol by HPLC

Abstract: Spirotetramat is a new compound which belongs to the chemical class of ketoenols. As per the available literature analysis of spirotetramat and its metabolites spirotetramat-enol is carried out by high pressure liquid chromatograph with mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS). In this study we have standardized a method where analysis of both the compounds is carried out by HPLC. The extraction and cleanup of spirotetramat and its metabolites spirotetramat-enol was carried out by QuEChERS method. The cleaned up residue… Show more

“…Several analytical methods have been developed to measure thiacloprid, spirotetramat and spirotetramat's metabolites (Hengel, 2011;Jovanov et al, 2014;Mohapatra, Deepa, & Jagadish, 2012;Morales, Ruiz, Oliva, & Barba, 2011;Watanabe, Kobara, & Yogo, 2012;Zhu et al, 2013). Nevertheless, optimisation strategies for analytical methods are commonly based on the study of one-variable-at-a-time (OVAT) method, which often fails to achieve exact specifications because interactions between factors are not taken into account.…”

“…Analysis of SP is commonly carried out by high-performance liquid chromatography with photometric 6,7 or mass spectrometry detection, frequently after quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe extraction of samples. 8,9 However, the determination of SP residues in environmental and food samples can be quite complex because of the diversity of SP metabolites or degradates that can be present in the sample.…”

“…In recent years, there have been few studies focused on the analysis of BYI08330 in cotton (Pandiselvi, Sathiyanarayanan, & Ramesh, ), grapes (Vemuri, Rao, & Swarupa, ), chilli (Chahil, Mandal, Sahoo, & Singh, ), mangoes (Mohapatra, Deepa, Lekha, et al, ) and spinach (Chen et al, ). A few studies have focused on some of the metabolites of BYI08330, particularly B‐enol, which has been reported in grapes (Mohapatra, Kumar, & Prakash, ), okra, brinjal leaves, green chillies, red chillies (Singh, Mandal, Sahoo, Bhardwaj, & Battu, ), apples (Han et al, ), mangoes and cabbages (Mohapatra, Deepa, & Jagadish, ). Recent publications discussing BYI08330 and its four metabolites in different matrices include various food contexts, such as pepper (S. S. Li, Liu, et al, ), cabbages, tomatoes, potatoes, apples, peaches and cucumbers (Zhu et al, ).…”

“…Recent publications discussing BYI08330 and its four metabolites in different matrices include various food contexts, such as pepper (S. S. Li, Liu, et al, ), cabbages, tomatoes, potatoes, apples, peaches and cucumbers (Zhu et al, ). Current analytical methods for the determination of spirotetramat and its metabolites are high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) (Vemuri et al, ; Chahil et al, ; Singh et al, ; Mohapatra, Deepa, & Jagadish, ; Pandiselvi et al, ), ultra high‐performance chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC‐MS/MS) (S. S. Li, Liu, et al, ; Zhu et al, ), liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC‐MS/MS) (Chen et al, ) and gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS) (Mohapatra et al, ). To the best of our knowledge, there has been only one study focused on the dynamics of spirotetramat and its four metabolites in citrus marmalade during home processing by UPLC‐MS/MS (Liu et al, ).…”
