An Effective Fairness Scheme for Named Data Networking

Abstract: Named data networking (NDN) is a revolutionary approach to cater for modern and future Internet usage trends. The advancements in web services, social networks and cloud computing have shifted Internet utilization towards information delivery. Information-centric networking (ICN) enables content-awareness in the network layer and adopts name-based routing through the NDN architecture. Data delivery in NDN is receiver-driven pull-based and governed by requests (interests) sent out by the receiver. The ever-incr… Show more

“…If the name of the data is found in a PIT entry, the data is stored in the CS and forwarded to the incoming interfaces that requested it and were previously registered in the PIT. Otherwise, the data is deleted because it is no longer required or was not required at all [29].…”

“…Nesta seção são abordados os trabalhos estritamente relacionados ao balanceamento de carga em NDN. Estratégias que abordam a temática indiretamente como controle de congestionamento [Zafar et al 2020] e engenharia de tráfego [Li et al 2018] fogem do escopo deste trabalho.…”

“…Additionally, since the end property has been attached to ICN router in a new approach, many recent studies have tried to solve the problems caused by congestion. A typical example can be found in [30], where Zafar H. proposed a fairness-based active queue management algorithm to ensure the fair allocation of resources by interest rate shaping.…”

“…Appropriate transport protocols containing retransmission and congestion control guarantee the quality of service (QOS) of ICN. For example, the router shapes the interest rate when it detects occurring congestion via an active queue management algorithm [30]. We do not expand on the relevant design details since they are not the focus of this paper.…”
