PurposeBig data has posed problems for businesses, the Information Technology (IT) sector and the science community. The problems posed by big data can be effectively addressed using cloud computing and associated distributed computing technology. Cloud computing and big data are two significant past-year problems that allow high-efficiency and competitive computing tools to be delivered as IT services. The paper aims to examine the role of the cloud as a tool for managing big data in various aspects to help businesses.Design/methodology/approachThis paper delivers solutions in the cloud for storing, compressing, analyzing and processing big data. Hence, articles were divided into four categories: articles on big data storage, articles on big data processing, articles on analyzing and finally, articles on data compression in cloud computing. This article is based on a systematic literature review. Also, it is based on a review of 19 published papers on big data.FindingsFrom the results, it can be inferred that cloud computing technology has features that can be useful for big data management. Challenging issues are raised in each section. For example, in storing big data, privacy and security issues are challenging.Research limitations/implicationsThere were limitations to this systematic review. The first limitation is that only English articles were reviewed. Also, articles that matched the keywords were used. Finally, in this review, authoritative articles were reviewed, and slides and tutorials were avoided.Practical implicationsThe research presents new insight into the business value of cloud computing in interfirm collaborations.Originality/valuePrevious research has often examined other aspects of big data in the cloud. This article takes a new approach to the subject. It allows big data researchers to comprehend the various aspects of big data management in the cloud. In addition, setting an agenda for future research saves time and effort for readers searching for topics within big data.

Cloud computing is gaining popularity due to its higher performance in evaluation computing such as wider availability, lower cost of service, and scalability. Cloud storage is most used in the application where the users get benefits to maintain the local storage device. However, the data integrity is more complex in cloud storage as the Cloud Service Providers (CSP) will lose their outsourced data from users in some accidents. The Third-Party Auditor (TPA) in public auditing makes an impractical assumption, which has a higher computation capability to tolerate the expensive verifications of overhead. Further, the public key infrastructure-based is audited to verify each owner's public key certification that depends on the mechanism and management of public-key certificates. In this research, proposed Improved Rivest Shamir Adleman Cryptosystem (IRSAC) algorithm for dynamic and secure public auditing of user data in the cloud. The encryption and smaller chunks formation is carried out using the Novel and Secure Cryptography-Hashing (NSCH) algorithm. When data gets uploaded, the private and public key is issued to the users to retrieve the secure data. Both the keys are obtained using the IRSAC algorithm that effectively audits the data files regularly. These experimental results showed that the proposed IRSAC method acquires lesser encryption and decryption time of 1420ms and 240ms for 1000 bits of data size. Whereas, the existing method acquired encryption and decryption time of 2210ms and 250ms respectively.

Cloud computing is performed by hosting the data of data owners on cloud servers, where the data consumers (users) are able to get the data over servers. Though, several security aspects are raised during cloud storage regarding the data availability and data integrity. On the other hand, a novel scheme of data hosting services is introduced owing to data outsourcing which also raises additional security problems. In addition, several methods are presented by taking either “identity‐based cryptography (IBC) or public key infrastructure (PKI).” Hence, a secure and effective dynamic data auditing scheme is preferable for convincing data owners to ensure precise data storage in the cloud. This paper focuses on implementing a new hybrid heuristic‐assisted strategy for managing cloud storage with the help of efficient auditing schemes. This paper tries to optimize the data structures in the cloud storage with a new improved hybrid differential evolution‐teamwork optimization algorithm (HED‐TOA) with the integration of the teamwork optimization algorithm (TOA) and differential evolution (DE) algorithms. It aims to alleviate the problems raised during the dynamic data update operations including “insert, modify, delete, and append.” This improved HED‐TOA help in performing the data auditing. This model overcomes the problem of modifications occurring in the data structure while doing the dynamic data update operations and thus, it ensures efficient data auditing and data management in cloud computing. This work considers the aim of reducing computation as well as communication costs during the data storage process in the cloud. The performance estimation demonstrates that there is considerable contrast between the traditional methods and the proposed technique in terms of the communication and computation cost on the cloud and auditor.
