“…Accordingly, the stringency of prevention policies should be modified in response to changes in the epidemic prevention and control environment. More stringent prevention measures can be taken in areas with low vaccination rates, increasing the cost of epidemic prevention for the population, and thus stimulating the population to vaccinate and achieving the goal of establishing universal immunization ( 63 ). In addition, differentiated guidance to encourage vaccination willingness among different people should be implemented.…”

Understanding the determinants and outcomes of administrative burden could help reduce its adverse and inequitable effects and improve policy efforts (Cepiku & Mastrodascio, 2021; Christensen et al., 2020; Heinrich et al., 2022; Herd & Moynihan, 2019). Our findings suggest that there is room to enhance the existing vaccination policy practices iteratively in ways that increase voluntary compliance and free up resources for more difficult public service scenarios.…”

“…Moreover, previous literature on this topic has mainly focused on empirical cases in North America, Europe, and Australia, and employed nonexperimental methods to explore the relationship between barriers and administrative burdens in various welfare programs (Mikkelsen et al, 2023;Peeters & Campos, 2021;Tiggelaar & George, 2023). Therefore, in recent years, scholars have encouraged more experimental investigations on the origins and consequences of administrative burdens in non-Western countries from a comparative perspective (Halling & Baekgaard, 2022).…”

“…This grim finding reveals several opportunities for immediate action. The COVID pandemic exposed longstanding inequities built into the US immunization infrastructure [45] and administrative burdens that penalize communities of color [46]. Improving equity in the immunization infrastructure would potentially reduce racial disparities in sepsis-associated death.…”
