Abstract:Ulcerative colitis (UC), one of the two major inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), is a chronic immunemediated inflammatory disorder with varying degrees of colonic mucosal involvement. Patients often present with inflammation limited to the rectum, also known as ulcerative proctitis, proximal colonic involvement, or pancolitis which affects the entire colon.
