An architecture for fast semantic retrieval in the film heritage domain

Abstract: How to best perform a search over a dataset is a common field of research in the scientific community. Query engines are used when the information is handled by an ontology in order to obtain structured information semantically. A common issue that arises is when the same query is performed several times, as the query engine must check the domain every time in order to retrieve the information. In this paper, we propose an architecture that takes advantage of the concept of Reflexive Ontologies (RO) in order t… Show more

“…As can be seen, it is quite important to have a good flow of information between all the modules and sub-modules of our architecture and since all the KBs are modeled as ontologies, the most natural approach in order to enhance the massive use of queries over such KB was to develop a technique that provides us with a mechanism that save time by accessing the KB only when needed. The RO concept was introduced in [8] and the concept was also used by Cobos et.al in [16].…”

“…Therefore, it does not concentrate on some certain domain, but on the semantic web structure. Yolanda et al [7] proposed an architecture that takes advantage of the concept of Reflexive Ontologies in order to achieve timely semantic retrieval. However, it did not present the specific method of converting ontology query to database query.…”
