An Aptian Cycadeoid From the Budden Canyon Formation, Ono Quadrangle, California

Abstract: We describe a cycadeoid trunk from the Aptian Chickabally Member, Budden Canyon Formation in Ono, California. Our diagnosis of the specimen as a cycadeoid was initially based on the presence of mucilage canals in the pith and the structure of the secondary xylem. This determination was subsequently supported by recognition of the distinctive morphology of the surface of the primary body of eroded cycadeoid trunks.
