An approach to improve the pilling resistance properties of three thread polyester cotton blended fleece fabric

Abstract: Pilling is a common surface defect in fleece fabrics made of chief value cotton (CVC) and polyester cotton (PC). The term "Chief Value Cotton" refers to fabrics produced by mixing cotton and synthetic fiber such as polyester where cotton typically makes up more than half of the overall combination of polyester. Customers nowadays want polyester cotton blended fleece fabric with excellent pilling resistance, but it is difficult to improve pilling properties in polyester cotton blended fleece fabric. A variety o… Show more

“…Elongation of the blend yarn increases slightly with the increase in tencel composition. Others assessed pilling—one of the most common surface defects in polyester–cotton blended fleece fabrics [ 11 ]. Authors concluded that singeing and heat setting are the most effective methods for reducing pilling in polyester–cotton-blended, three-thread fleece cloth.…”

“…The scouring removes the raw fabric's unwanted leftover materials [ 14 ]. The bleaching process removed the natural color of the raw Banana-betel nut blended fabric to make it ready for natural dyeing [ 14 ]. In this research work, the main focus was to use the natural ingredients to make the Banana-betel nut blended fabric eco-friendly and cheap to produce on a mass scale.…”

“…Processes such as singeing, cropping, and heat setting significantly reduce the tendency to pill [8,11]. Mechanically singed samples exhibited a better pilling grade than samples without singeing [4,8,9,12,19]. The abrasion resistance and pilling performance of dyed fabrics were higher than those of loom state fabrics [6,14,19].…”

The abrasion resistance and pilling performance of dyed fabrics were higher than those of loom state fabrics [6,14,19]. Pilling resistance significantly increased with the wool content in polyester/wool fabrics and the heat setting temperature [20].…”
