“…[ 242 ] Activity of this coordination polymer against E. coli and S. aureus was determined to be in the range of 150–200 mg/ml by measuring the optical density of the samples. In a second study, [ 243 ] thiophene‐2,5‐dicarboxylic acid as ligand, benzimidazole (BIm) as coligand and silver nitrate as metal ion source were assembled into a supramolecular network in which silver(I) is coordinated by two benzimidazole molecules to give cations [Ag(BIm) 2 ] + and these cations are bridged by anions of thiophene‐2,5‐dicarboxylic acid to form undulating ribbons. The MIC value of this coordination polymer against E. coli was 15–20 ppm according to measurements using the optical density method, while its activity against S. aureus was somewhat weaker (MIC = 20–30 ppm), but still higher than the antibacterial activity of most of the common chemical disinfectants.…”

“…Moreover, the Ag-containing materials can limit undesired bio lms formed by the Enterobacter cloacae, Streptococcus thermophiles, and Propionibacterium acnes, the bacteria that are generally existent within the wounds 29,30 . Ning et al 31,32 synthesized various Ag-MOFs using different organic carboxylic acid ligands. They demonstrated that the production of antibacterial properties was mainly related to the slow Ag + releasing, and synergistic effect associated with the reactive oxygen species (ROS).…”

“…Therefore, the development of new drug candidates against antimicrobial resistance is a necessity and therefore of interest to researchers. Consequently, the benzimidazole platform is particularly interesting due to its nitrogen atom being able to coordinate with transition metals [ 16–19 ] and especially with silver [ 20,21 ] or as a precursor of N ‐heterocyclic carbenes, for example, for bis‐silver complexes. [ 22,23 ]…”

[22,23] In this context, we now report the synthesis of eight cationic silver(I) complexes, in which two benzimidazole entities were coordinated through their nitrogen atom to the metal, and their antimicrobial activities against Gram-negative, Gram-positive, and Fungi strains.…”
