An analysis of some magnetotelluric records from Tikhaya Bay, U.S.S.R.

Abstract: Magnetotelluric data recorded at Tikhaya Bay, archipelago of Franz Josef Land, U.S.S.R., in January 1958 were sampled and analyzed. Power spectrums, coherence functions, and apparent resistivities were computed for a frequency range of 0.2 to 6.3 mhz. Although the station is located in the Arctic Ocean and inside the auroral zone, the magnetotelluric field and the computed apparent resistivities are similar in their behavior to corresponding quantities observed at Tbilisi, U.S.S.R. The values found for the app… Show more

“…2 Generally, O-T transition results from the change of oxygen content in Cu-O chains [20][21][22][23]. Thus the variation of lattice parameters a and b indicates that Al and Co ions enter mainly Cu(1) sites, which is consistent with Hoffmann et al experiments [37,38]. It should be noticed that O-T transition occurs before the appearance of impure phases, which reflects the intrinsic properties of Al and Co doped Y123 systems.…”

“…A more favorable case for the 2D-ACAR distribution is provided by the YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7 cuprate superconductor, where the 1-dimensional ridge FS has a two-fold symmetry which distinguishes it from important fourfold symmetry wave function effects. 57,58 On the other hand, the Compton scattering calculation reveals a clear Fermi surface feature near a momentum (1.5, 1.5) a.u., and equivalent positions, Fig. 4(b).…”

“…The dHvA oscillations are most sensitive to the smallest Fermi surface pockets, and so far have only found some minority pockets and chain related structure in YBCO [60,61] and Tl-2201 [61]. Positron annihilation tends to be sensitive to specific electronic states, and so far the technique has only been successful in identifying unambiuously the chain Fermi surface in YBCO [62][63][64]. Highresolution Compton scattering will likely provide new opportunities with regard to Fermiology related problems, as the third generation light sources come on line [65].…”
