An alpha–gamma coincidence spectrometer based on the photon–electron rejecting alpha liquid scintillation (PERALS®) system

Abstract: An alpha-gamma coincidence spectrometer has been developed for the measurement of selected actinide isotopes in the presence of high beta/gamma fields. The system is based on a PERALS® liquid scintillation counter for beta/alpha discrimination and was successfully tested with both high purity germanium and bismuth germanate, gamma-ray detectors using conventional analog electronics.
