An advanced tabu search approach to the dynamic airlift loading problem

Abstract: This research effort presents a tabu search algorithm to solve the dynamic airlift loading problem. Given a set of palletized cargo items which require transportation from an aerial port of embarkation to an aerial port of debarkation within a pre-specified time frame, the dynamic airlift loading problem seeks to partition the pallets into aircraft loads, select an efficient and effective subset of aircraft from available aircraft, and assign the pallets to allowable positions on those aircraft. The dynamic ai… Show more

“…The first focuses on methods for the construction of shipping plans to select a fleet of aircraft for a given set of cargo items, which requires transportation within a specified time window, and assigns cargo items to allowable onboard positions. Keys works considering this approach include Ng [5], Baker et al [6], Guéret et al [7], Zhang and Zhong [8], Roesener and Barnes [9] and Ran et al [10]. The second explore methods of assigning and positioning a set of cargo items into different containers.…”

“…The variables cannot change their status once they have been included in the tabu list, but if the search leads to a potentially better solution, then a swap move is performed. These measures enable the local neighborhood search to converge to solutions of good quality [35]. The local search technique implementation in this chapter follows the steps in Figure 2.…”

“…The level of logistics directly determines the level of e-commerce. Without advanced logistics assistance, there is no broader development of e-commerce and customer recognition [2]. The relationship between e-commerce and logistics distribution can be further analyzed from the following two aspects.…”
