An advanced physiological data logger for medical imaging applications

Abstract: The interest of physiological data sensing and recording using wireless body sensor network has increased in recent years due to the advancement of miniature and portable electronic devices. In this study, the design of a portable and rechargeable data logger with high data rate multiple wireless connectivity (Bluetooth and 2.4-GHz radio frequency) is discussed. The data are logged in micro secure digital (SD) cards and can be transferred to PC or Smartphone using SD card reader, USB interface, or Bluetooth wi… Show more

“…However, when the distance increased to 10 meters, we noticed that transmission rate was affected, with 80% of data successfully transmitted. Since, the data logger is wearable and generally worn around the waist in practice, the distance between a swallowed capsule and the data logger is generally about 0.3 meter [52]. Therefore, we expect our prototype to work at 2.4 GHz spectrum with no loss of data during communication.…”

“…In the current scenario, Bluetooth is the most suitable option because of its high bandwidth and support on many smartphone platforms. In [ 42 ], a high bit-rate data logger and its connectivity through Bluetooth are presented. A Bluetooth transreceiver [ 43 ] is connected with an IRU microcontroller in WCE.…”
