An adaptive relay node selection algorithm based on opportunity

Abstract: The collaborative relay network plays an important role in a smart grid application thanks to its high efficiency. However, energy and bandwidth management need to be further improved to extend network life cycle and reduce potential network segmentation. Aiming to balance the network energy consumption, this paper proposes an adaptive relay node selection algorithm based on the opportunity (OAR). In OAR, the potential relay nodes are chosen to act as candidates based on bit error rate (BER) estimation, and th… Show more

“…Proficient bee colony-clustering protocol (PBC-CP) has been designed based on artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm by considering node's energy, degree, and distance to access point. In [29], energy and bandwidth management factors play an important role in collaborative relay networks. An opportunity-aware adaptive relay (OAR) for maintaining sensor data quality.…”

“…From the perspective of the energy consumption of wireless sensor networks, Zhang et.al [6] proposed an adaptive relay node selection algorithm based on opportunity. The adaptive algorithm mainly selects potential relay nodes as candidate nodes through the BER(Bit Error Ratio), and the simulations show that the proposed method can extend the life cycle of the network.…”
