An Adaptive Anycasting Solution for Crowd Sensing in Vehicular Environments

Abstract: Abstract-Vehicular networks can be seen as the new key enablers of the future networked society. Vehicles traveling can act as mobile sensors and collect a variety of information that can be used to enable various new services like environment monitoring, traffic management, urban surveillance, and so on.In this paper we present AVE ("adaptive Anycasting solution for Vehicular Environments"), a message delivery protocol which combines geographical and topological information to dynamically adapt its behavior t… Show more

“…[13][14][15] Power saving, being the most significant key performance indicator (KPI) in these networks has attracted a lot of researchers toward it. A lot of research is done in literature to reduce the energy consumption in the medium access control (MAC) protocols as in Walchli et al 16 and multicast routing in Xiangli et al, 17 Cao et al, 18 and Wu and Candan.…”

“…We address vehicular sensing applications, where vehicles cooperate to sense and collect environmental data that can be requested, for example, by public administrations or private data centers [ 7 ]. A general vision on architectures and technologies for V2X can be found in [ 8 ].…”

“…We address vehicular crowd sensing applications, where vehicles cooperate to sense and collect urban data requested by data centers [ 27 ]. Specifically, we assume that each vehicle periodically generates a packet containing some information collected on board, such as the vehicle identification, position, speed, direction and acceleration.…”
