“…Duck is the typical host of DTMUV, and some other species, like chickens, geese, and sparrows, also have been reported to be infected with DTMUV (Yu et al, 2018). Seriously, there might be high risk for poultry-to-human or mice transmission of the DTMUV (Liu et al, 2013;Tang et al, 2013). Therefore, it is emergency to study the DTMUV-host interaction and develop effective antivirus therapies.…”

“…A previous study reported that duck TMUV induced high neurovirulence in intracerebrally inoculated BALB/c mice [9]. Cell-adapted duck TMUV replicates well in most organs of mice [10]. Moreover, TMUV antibodies and RNA have been detected in the serum and from oral swabs obtained from duck farm workers [11].…”

“…We found that DTMUV is a poor inducer of IFN-b in HEK293 cells, even though its RNA can initiate and activate the RLR signaling pathway from 36 h postinfection. Moreover, we can assume that this effect is not cell specific because our current and previous studies indicated that DTMUV infection induced IFN production at the mRNA level in various cells at 36 h postinfection (37). These observations suggest that the inhibition of type I IFN activation by DTMUV might be a strategy for early evasion and to facilitate its pathogenesis and transmission.…”

“…Viruses, cell lines, and Abs DTMUV isolated from a dead duckling in Anhui Province in China was used in the study (37). Sendai virus (SeV) was kindly provided by Prof. H. Deng (Peking University, Peking, China).…”
