Techniques for the computation of near fields of thinwire antennas have been reported in the past. In this paper, the methods for such computation are reviewed, some recent developments are described, and extensive experimental verification is reported. The computed near fields of resonant dipole are compared with experiment. The near fields of broadside and endfire linear arrays are reported. The broadside near-field patterns narrow, whereas the endfire patterns broaden, as distance from the array center increases. Finally, the relevance of near-field computation to near-field radiation hazards and to near-field measurements is discussed.

Abstract-Auto-pointing and angular super-resolution properties of the radiation patterns generated by an electrically compact retrodirective monopole antenna array are demonstrated experimentally for the first time. The operation of electrically compact (element spacings less than one fifth of the radiation wavelength) retrodirective antenna arrays that were theoretically considered in our previous work are confirmed by measurement. Particularly it is shown that the Direction-of-Arrival (DoA) information carried by an incident electromagnetic wave can be encoded into the evanescent near field of an electrically small resonant antenna array with a spatial rate higher than the spatial oscillation rate of the incident field in free space. This observation is supported by the near field measurements demonstrating that the magnitude of the scattered (evanescent) field in the array environment can exceed the magnitude of the incident field in free space by at least 6dB. Retrodirective array antenna matching and the feasibility of a frequency-division full-duplex communication link based on the proposed antenna arrays are also discussed.

Abstract-This work is dedicated to the study and measurement of the electric and magnetic fields intensities in the vicinity of an antenna array that is used for broadcasting at medium frequencies. The far field distance of a radiating system is usually computed with 2D 2 /λ which is obtained from the geometry of the problem. Another method to obtain the far field distance using the wave impedance of the electromagnetic wave through the ratio of electric and magnetic field, has been measured and calculated theoretically. The classical and new method to compute the far field distance are compared in this paper in order to show the improves in the calculation.The antenna array used in this work is a monopole plus a parasitic element at medium frequency, which generate a ground wave. Near the antenna, the electric field has vertical and radial components, and the areas are called the reactive near field and the radiated near field. The attenuation of the electric and magnetic fields due to the soil can be neglected for the near field study.The prediction of the levels of field intensity is useful to analyze electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic compatibility. It is also important to verify the regulations of International Standard IEEE C95-1 and the Argentina Regulation 3690 of National Communications Commission (CNC).
