An 800 g-tonne geotechnical centrifuge at K-water Institute, Korea

Abstract: An 800 g-tonne capacity, 8.0 m platform radius geotechnical centrifuge has been installed at K-water Institute, Daejeon, Korea in 2012 and it is one of the largest in the world. The maximum acceleration of the centrifuge is 150 g, and maximum 8000 kg payload can be loaded in 2.0 m(L) × 2.0 m(W) × 2.0 m(H) large platform to be accelerated up to 100 g. The centrifuge is equipped with fluid rotary joints, a fiber optic rotary joint, electrical slip rings, and on-board data acquisition system. For seismic performa… Show more

“…The simulator has a platform a length of 1.8 m and width of 0.8 m and has a maximum payload capacity of 1500 kg. It provides maximum 60 g horizontal shaking motion at 100 g centrifugal acceleration conditions and the maximum frequency of shaking motion is 300 Hz (Kim et al, 2014). The tests for this study were conducted using this earthquake simulator at 60 g centrifugal acceleration.…”

“…The simulator has a platform a length of 1.8 m and width of 0.8 m, and a maximum payload capacity of 1500 kg. This shaking table can achieve a maximum horizontal acceleration of 60 g at a centrifugal acceleration of 100 g. The maximum shaking frequency of the equipment is 300 Hz (Kim et al, 2014b;Segismundo et al, 2014). The tests for this study were conducted at 60g of a centrifugal acceleration.…”
