Amperometric Method for Detecting Paracetamol using a Carbon Paste Electrode Modified with Vanadium(V) Oxide

Edgar Nagles,
Andy A. Cardenas‐Riojas,
Fernando Anaya‐Roa
et al.

Abstract: This new and simple amperometric method takes advantage of the electroactivity of V2O5 in the oxidation of paracetamol (PCM) on a carbon paste electrode (CPE). With the modified electrode (VOX/CPE) the anode peak current for PCM was more than 100 % than that of the unmodified electrode. The electrode surface was characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The amperograms were measured at +0.70 V (vs Ag/AgCl), and the calibrat… Show more

“…There are very few reports on the studied electrodes modified with MoS 2 and MWCNTs in the presence of Fe(CN) 6 3+/4+ that have calculated the active area value. In relation to the value calculated in this paper, the active area value is much smaller compared to other larger-diameter electrodes, in which the reproduced active area is normally greater than 0.10 cm 2 in electrodes modified with metal cation oxides and nanoparticles [ 26 ].…”
