Amoxicillin

Abstract

S Amoxicillin Anaphylaxis: case reportA 32-year-old man experienced anaphylaxis following therapy with amoxicillin.The man was treated with amoxicillin [route, indication and dosage not stated]. One hour after the first dose, he developed dyspnoea, tongue swelling and rash. He presented to an emergency department under a suspicion of allergic reaction. Tests revealed BP 82/50 mmHg, pulse 87 beats/minute, respiratory rate 20 breaths/minute, temperature 36.3°C and pulse oximetry 97%. His physical examinations were consistent with mild tongue swelling, diffuse urticaria and erythema.The man received epinephrine, and his condition improved. Additionally, he received saline, diphenhydramine and methylprednisolone.
