Amino-functionalized MIL-88B(Fe)-based porous carbon for enhanced adsorption toward ciprofloxacin pharmaceutical from aquatic solutions

Abstract: The present study focused on the synthesis of novel NH 2 -PC700 adsorbent through the pyrolysis of NH 2 -MIL-88B (Fe) material under different pyrolysis temperatures (500, 700, and 900 C) and investigated its application for ciprofloxacin adsorption. The obtained adsorbents were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherm measurements. The parameters of the adsorption experiments that affect the removal efficiency, including s… Show more

“…ICDW-APTES presented high efficiency in the CFX adsorption that is caused by the grafted amino groups (presented in APTES). Amino groups possess electron-rich nitrogen, which exhibits a relatively strong Lewis base [18]. Meanwhile, CFX molecules are fluorinated and constituted by amino, tertiary amine, and carboxylic (−COOH) groups [17,18].…”

“…Current treatment methods of chromium-containing wastewater include adsorption, precipitation, electrolysis, ion exchange, and membrane separation, each of which is accompanied by various advantages and disadvantages 5 8 . With the development of adsorption technology, researchers have become increasingly focused on developing new, low-cost adsorbents for use in adsorption technology 9 , 10 .…”

“…Over the past decades, efficient adsorbent materials, which often include alginate, activated carbon, denatured chitin, zeolite, and bentonite have been studied to remove dyes from the aqueous media [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]. However, the hydrotalcite materials have been receiving a lot of attentions from researchers mainly because of its wide application potential in many areas such as adsorption, catalysis, photochemistry, biomedical, sensor [9][10][11].…”
