Amino acid profiles in the tissue and serum of patients with liver cancer

Abstract: Most patients with liver cancer were found late and lost the chance of surgery. Liquid biopsy can monitor the risk of tumor recurrence and metastasis, quickly evaluate the curative effect of tumor treatment, and is conducive to early screening and auxiliary diagnosis of high-risk groups. Amino acid (AA) profiling has been used to the diagnosis and the prognosis for cancers. However, little was known about the profiles of AA of liver cancer. In this study, we used tRNA in Cancer database to analyze the AA level… Show more

“…[50][51][52] Reduced levels of tyrosine and phenylalanine in tumor tissue from liver cancer patients can be used as markers for early diagnosis. [53] Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that is a precursor to melatonin. The pineal gland produces melatonin, regulates sleep and wakefulness, plays a role in satiety-induced drowsiness, and can be a dietary supplement to improve sleep, [54][55][56][57] and treat microbial infections.…”

“…Thus, in their study, Cao et al demonstrated a high content of the amino acids Phe and Tyr in viable tumor areas of non-small cell lung cancer [ 154 ]. Another study found an increase in serum Phe and Tyr in hepatocellular cancer (HCC) [ 155 ]. It is noteworthy that there are practically no data on the biochemical processes and reasons for the increase in this amino acid in oncological conditions, and on its role in redox homeostasis.…”
