“…The amino acids profiles (Table 5) were comparable to those previously reported for strains of Saccharomyces, Kluyveromyces and Candida [41,42] and compared favourably with the FAO standard with methionine as the limiting amino acid.…”

“…Indeed, apart from crude ash, the content of above‐mentioned nutrients was lower this time, but still considerably higher than in the commercial yeast tested here. Compared with the published data (Martini, Miller, & Martini, ), only two yeast species, Kluyveromyces fragilis and Saccharomyces uvarum , had similar crude protein content with K. slooffiae . It was also striking that, the content of lysine in K. slooffiae was around 1.7–3.8‐fold higher than in the other yeasts, and as well as the amount of most other amino acids (s. Table ).…”

“…Despite its prevalence, the C–U anticorrelation has not been verified with experimental data in autotrophs nor in heterotrophs. Herein, we provide evidence that the abundance of AAs hydrolyzed from proteomes of bacteria 30 or yeast 31 is significantly anticorrelated with the B20 or Y20 cost metric, respectively (Supplementary Fig. 5a , 5b ).…”
