“…The relationship between affect balance and life satisfaction has been found to be statistically significant in a range of cultural contexts, although the strength of this correlation varies across countries (Suh et al, 1998). At the high-ordered level, and in conjunction with affect balance, life satisfaction constitutes the substrate of subjective well-being (SWB) (Andrews and Withey, 1976) which is, in turn, linked to many health-related outcomes (Diener and Chan, 2011). The study of this entire network of relations has shown that while adverse life conditions, socioeconomic disadvantage, interpersonal relations, and social support are related to life satisfaction, once such factors have been controlled for, children’s psychosocial functioning also contributes positively to their quality of life.…”
