American Study-Abroad Programs and the African University

Abstract: This article discusses the establishment of student-based linkages between U.S. and African universities, especially those based on study abroad. Specifically, it focuses on two dimensions of study-abroad linkages: the terms under which they are established and operate; and how to address, within the current structure of most African universities, the need that American programs have for an on-site support structure for their students.
