American Roma: A Cultural Care Case Study

Abstract: This case study depicts the cultural conflict that occurred when an American Roma (Gypsy) woman delivered her baby at a small hospital that had no knowledge or experience with the Roma culture. The case is analyzed based on the three modes of nursing actions and decisions for culturally congruent nursing care, an important tenet of Leininger’s culture care theory.
