“…Antimicrobial drugs were routinely recommended for the five hypothetical disease scenarios presented in this survey. For the feline lower urinary, feline upper respiratory and canine dental scenarios, recommendations of AMD treatment are contrary to existing AMD use guidelines, which state that AMDs should be withheld when there is no evidence for bacterial disease (Bellows et al., 2019; Edwards et al., 2004; Lappin et al., 2017; Weese et al., 2015, 2019). An association was noted between self‐reported awareness of clinical AMD use guidelines and not recommending AMDs in hypothetical situations.…”

“…While awareness of AMD use guidelines was associated with lower odds of hypothetical prescribing in cases of canine pyoderma (OR = 0.82, 95% CI: 0.64-1.05) and canine dental procedures (OR = 0.94, 95% CI: 0.77-1.16), these associations were not statistically significant in the univariate or multivariable models. there is no evidence for bacterial disease (Bellows et al, 2019;Edwards et al, 2004;Lappin et al, 2017;Weese et al, 2015Weese et al, , 2019).…”
