In Indonesia, corruption is a big problem that endangers many aspects of national, state and social life. Corruption has harmed the internal and external environment of the perpetrators and resulted in material losses. Harmonious laws, international cooperation, integrated law enforcement, and active community participation are needed to resolve this problem. Apart from that, challenges in eradicating corruption must be overcome, such as by increasing training and education and implementing moral values. The aim of this research is to understand the characteristics of normative legal knowledge, understand, explain and apply legal regulations and the principles that guide them. The method used is a normative juridical approach, namely a type of legal research carried out by analyzing secondary data or raw materials. Corrupt practices must be actively avoided, and corruption courts must play a proactive role in eradicating corruption. The results of this research are firm law enforcement, eradicating gratification, increasing transparency and accountability, as well as increasing public legal and ethical awareness. Cooperation is needed from various parties, including the government, law enforcement agencies and the community, to jointly overcome this corruption problem. It is hoped that with extensive efforts, the negative impacts of corruption can be reduced and a transparent and clean government can be created.

The study aims to discuss on the corruption of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) export cases that have led to the scarcity of cooking oil at affordable prices in Indonesia. It is harmful for the public as the Crude Palm Oil (CPO) has been exported without a permit and does not meet the requirements of Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) and Domestic Price Obligation (DPO). The study is a normative legal research employing descriptive-qualitative upon data collected through a library study. The study shows that the case of crude palm oil (CPO) export corruption made the supply of cooking oil disrupted that led to economic and political instability. In response to this, the government conducted an investigation and found several suspects of corruption cases. While the legal process running, the discourse on the application of death penalty arose within the society. It was so because this corruption occurred during the pandemic. However, the use of the capital punishment in cases of corruption is restricted because it can only be used in specified circumstances, especially when the funds are intended for dealing with dangerous situations, national natural disasters, social unrest, economic and monetary problems, and corruption repetition.

The practice of judicial activism, though not formally defined within the jurisdiction of the Constitutional Court (MK), is implicitly recognized as an integral element of independent judicial power. The importance of this independence is underscored as a fundamental necessity for the preservation of law and justice. This research utilized a normative juridical methodology, incorporating conceptual, comparative, and case-based analysis. The study findings reveal that judicial activism, as practiced within the Constitutional Court, is underpinned by independent judicial authority. Moreover, this practice aligns with the tenets of progressive legal doctrines, which not only acknowledge the significance of codified legal provisions but also endorse legal innovations for the pursuit of justice. The practice of judicial activism within the Constitutional Court is indispensable for reinforcing the principle of checks and balances. The subjective and abstract nature of judicial activism, however, necessitates objective validation through the principle of virtue jurisprudence.
