Ambient noise H/V spectral ratio in site effects estimation in Fateh jang area, Pakistan

Abstract: Local geology or local site effect is a crucial component while conducting seismic risk assessment studies. Investigations made by utilization of ambient noise are an effective tool for local site estimation. “…For single station seismic observation data, the horizontal to vertical (H/V) spectral ratio (HVSR) method (Nakamura, 1989) is an effective seismological analysis method. The HVSR method is widely applied on Earth to ambient noise data (Cara et al., 2003; Pilz et al., 2010), microtremors (Pamuk et al., 2018; Teves‐Costa et al., 1996) and site effect studies (Chen & Wang, 2019; Pilz et al., 2009; Talha Qadri et al., 2015), and was also applied to Apollo seismic data to estimate the shallow structure at the Apollo station site (Dal Moro, 2015; Horvath et al., 1980; Nakamura et al., 1975).
